Battalion AI · About
An independent desk for the metals market
Battalion AI is a small, independent, educational project: a live spot board, charts, a dated daily brief, and an AI analyst that explains how the precious-metals market works without telling you what to do.
Who built it
It was built and is maintained by an independent developer who follows the metals market and wanted a clean, honest board without a sales funnel attached. It started as a Claude chat prototype and is now a Next.js app maintained in the open with a public dispatch archive and a changelog.
Independence
Battalion AI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Battalion Metals, Tucker Carlson, or any bullion dealer, custodian, or fund. Nobody pays for placement. There are no affiliate links, no buy buttons, and no trade signals. The name is an homage; the project is separate.
Data methodology
- Spot prices come from gold-api.com, a free, keyless feed, in USD per troy ounce. Each card shows the provider's own timestamp and the source name. The server re-checks every 60 seconds and never serves a cached quote older than that; if the feed fails, the card says "Unavailable" rather than showing a stale or invented number.
- Percent change and charts use front-month COMEX futures (GC, SI, PL, PA) from Yahoo Finance's public chart endpoint as a labeled proxy. Futures trade at a small basis to spot, so levels differ slightly while percent moves track closely. The proxy is optional and the UI names it wherever it is used; when it is off, charts show an empty state.
- The Daily Dispatch is written once per US/Eastern day by a language model from the live board, the previous day's board, and a handful of live public facts fetched at filing time: US Treasury "Debt to the Penny", BLS CPI-U, and, when the proxy is on, the 10-year yield and the dollar index. The model may only cite those facts, inline as [n], and every brief lists its sources with links.
- The Analyst calls the live board before quoting a price and cites the time the quote was taken. Its instructions forbid buy/sell/hold recommendations, personal allocation percentages, price targets, and dealer referrals. Conversation memory lasts the browser session only; nothing is stored.
- Enlist stores an email address and nothing else. Subscribers receive the Daily Dispatch by email each morning, with its sources and a one-click unsubscribe link, and no offers.
Limits
Spot quotes are indicative and may be delayed. A language model wrote the dispatch and analyst answers; they can be wrong, and they are not a substitute for a licensed financial, tax, or legal professional. Read the full disclaimer in the footer of every page.
